Barbados: Caribbean entrepreneur and the executive chairman of Rock Hard Cement- Mark Maloney, announced the expansion of his company and positioned it in a state that could meet the demand efficiently.
The decision came at the time when another cement company named Arawak Cement Plan announced the cuts at its plant. The cement plant declared that it would be cutting 123 of the 175 jobs. They also stated that now their focus will be on clinker production and meeting the demand of the locals.
According to the sources, in the times when one of the major players in the cement market was all set to cut at its plans, another company planned to position its company in the expansion criteria. Mark Maloney announced the meet the required demand of the people in the cement industry.
Outlining the major challenges in the industry, he asserted that the industry has been facing several issues and problems over the last two years. The major problem was the increment in the cost of the material and shipping. He also highlighted that with the cost, the demand for cement has also witnessed an increment across the globe.
Mark Maloney assured the people that they are planning to re-invest in the cement industry to meet the demand for the product. He promised that they will work for the welfare of the industry and give the public access to quality cement. He also asserted that they are also making efforts to reduce the cost of the construction so that people can construct affordably.
As per the sources, Rock Hard Cement has been supplying around 50,000 tonnes a year in the market, and chairman Maloney highlighted that; however, the actual and overall demand was around 75 000 tonnes.
