Barbados hosts Secondary School Inter School Championships, know results

Barbados hosted the Secondary School Inter School Championships including various sporting events such as Long Jump, high jump, shot put, Discus, Javelin, and Triple Jump. 

Barbados: Barbados hosted the Secondary School Inter School Championships including various sporting events such as Long Jump, high jump, shot put, Discus, Javelin, and Triple Jump. 

Barbados Children Directory announced the results in the different sporting events and added, “It is the time of year when our young athletes put in their best performances to bring glory to their schools at the Barbados Secondary School Inter School championships (BSSAC).” 

This year for the first time, the athletes competed in the field events on the grounds of Harrison College ahead of the track events and the athletes from across the secondary schools gave a good account of themselves.

Barbados Children Directory added that there were some outstanding performances, especially in the junior boys’ shot put when Jayden Walcott of Combermere School set a new record with a throw of 14.95 metres replacing the old record of 14.44m. He was way in front of the second-place throw of 10.87 metres.

Ayden Greenidge from Queen’s College won the under-20 boys’ discus with 41.87 metres way ahead of his closet rival who threw 33.29 metres. Greenidge also won the shot put in his division.

Aria Weekes of The St Michael School was also way ahead of her competitors in the under-17 girls’ javelin. She won that event with a throw of 37.04m while her closest competitor threw 29.79m.

Long jump

Combermere’s Teon Haynes win the Under-20 boys’ long jump 7.02m while Joshua Dottin of the Lodge School was second with 6.57 metres and Adrian Maynard from the Alleyne School placed third with a jump of 6.39 metres.

Shania Thomas from Harrison College leaped 5.52 metres to win the girls long jump, while second place went to the St. Michael School’s Kayleigh Catwell with 5.34 metres and Kay’Ghun Rouse from the Lodge school copped bronze 5.25m.

Serenity Millar of Harrison College won the under-17 girls’ long jump with a jump of 5.31m, second place went to Kijana Johnson of The St Michael’s who had a jump of 5.27m and third place went to Ebony Jones from Springer Memorial with a jump of 4.87m.

Shot Put

Ronasha Phillips of SMS won the under-20 girls’ shot put with a throw of 10.97m. Ryah Dates (CS) was second with 10.91m and Shelanie Augustin (CS) third with 10.89m.

Ayden Greenidge from Queen’s College won the Under-20 boys’ shot with a throw of 14.32m, while Kaden Hoyte (CCFS) was second with 13.58m and Jireh Malcolm third with 12.94m.

Tashawna Phillips from the St George Secondary School was the winner of the under-17 girls’ shot put with 10.88m, while Janeta Harris from Lester Vaughan was second in 10.47m, and Kianna Connell of Princess Margaret third with 10.27m.

Jaden Bowen from Coleridge and Parry was the winner in the under-17 boys’ shot put with a throw of 12.40m. He defeated Zavier Knight from the St Michael School who placed second with a throw of 11.45m and Adgio Campbell from Princess Margaret who was third with 11.38m.

Chloe Blackman from the Alleyne School won the under-15 girls’ shot put with a throw of 9.59 metres while Makel Alleyne from The St. Michael School placed second with a 9.40 metres and Ukayla Dallaway from the Lodge School was third with a throw of 9.17 metres.

In the junior boys shot put, Jayden Walcott of Comberemere School set a new record when he threw 14.95 metres replacing the old record of 14.44m. Second place went to Seth Smith from Queen’s College with a throw of 10.87 metres, while S Prescod-Henry from the Alleyne School was third with 10.82 metres.

Discus

Shelaine Augustin from Combermere was the winner of the under-20 girls’ discus with a distance of 31.74 metres. Second was Nyima Rogers from Coleridge and Parry with 31.44 metres, while Jazaria Bovell from Queen’s College was third with a throw of 30.66 metres.

Ayden Greenidge from Queen’s College won the under-20 boys’ discus with 41.87 metres, while Zachary Alexander from Foundation was second with 33.29 metres and third was Johl Emtage-Cave from Harrison College with 32.92 metres.

Tashawna Phillips from the St. George Secondary School won the under-17 girls’ discus with a throw of 27.97m while Tanisha Brome of Alexandra School was second with 26.56m and Janeta Harris from Lester Vaughan was third with 26.24m.

HC’s Stephenson Springer won the Under-17 boys’ discus with a throw of 33.40m and Nathanael Precott of St George Secondary was second with 33.37m and third was David Gittens from St. Leonard’s boys with 31.38m.

Chloe Blackman of Alleyne School won the under- 15 girls’ discus event with a throw of 28.42 metres. Second place went to her teammate Tazaria Joseph 24.30m, while Combermere’s Shantay Ramsey was third with 23.92m.

Shadon Prescod-Henry claimed gold in the boys’ under-15 discus with a throw of 40.00 metres. Jaden Walcott of Combermere was second place with a throw of 33.53m and LeAndre Headley- Clarke of The St Michael School’s threw 31.98m for third place.

Javelin

The under-20 girls’ javelin gold medal went to Asabi Callender from Christ Church Foundation School with 41.75m while Combermere’s Ryah Dates threw 38.40m for second place and third place went to the Alleyne’s Kaitlyn Smith- Oneale, who threw 33.74m.

Romani Tudor of Alleyne captured the gold in the under- 20 boys’ javelin with a throw of 45.16m while Rachad Gill was second with 42.74m and Harrison College’s Johl Emtage-Cave, was third with 41.88m.

R’Jai Gittens from Comberemere won the under-17 boys’ javelin with a throw of 43.46 metres edging Alexandra’s Oliver Gooding who was second with a throw of 43.17 metres and third was Jaden Dowridge also from the Combermere with 40.73 metres.

Aria Weekes of The St Michael School won the under-17 girls’ javelin with 37.04m, while Kianna Connell of Princess Margaret was second with 29.79m and QC’s Aleera Chapman was third (29.58m).

Eboni Brathwaite from Harrison College was the winner in the junior girls’ javelin with a throw of 31.09m while Allana Marshall of Princess Margaret was second with 24.82m and Lodge School’s Ukayla Dallaway finished third with a throw of 23.25m.

The junior boys’ javelin was won by Jadon Chase of St Leonard’s with a throw of 34.46m, while Zarell Harding from Coleridge and Parry was second with 34.10m and Foundation’s Kai White was third with 33.58m.

Triple Jump

Joshua Dottin of the Lodge School won the under-20 boys’ triple jump with a leap of 13.40m, while Christian Gill from St. Leonard Boys was second with 13.05m and Nicholas Durant from Foundation was third with 12.71m.

The St Michael School’s Aaron Massiah jumped 14.11 metres to win the under-17 boys’ triple while Jules O’Garro from Harrison College was second and Nathan King from the Lodge School placed third with a leap of 12.76m.

Shani Thomas of Harrison College won the Open girls’ triple jump with her effort measured at 11.68m. Second place went to Kay’Ghun Rouse from the Lodge School with a jump of 11.28m and third was Combermere’s Nyema Taylor with 11.04m.

With the field events (except the high jump) out of the way, the track component started when the Frank Blackman Zone ran off last week.
