Barbados became the champion of the 20th Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Tournament at Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Dominica, on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

Caribbean: Barbados became the champion of the 20th Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Tournament at Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Dominica, on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The country secured the victory against Trinidad and Tobago with 5-0 runs in the tournament. 

Further, team Grenada placed second in the just concluded 20th Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Tournament. Grenada also won its final game yesterday, against Saint Lucia, at Windsor Park Sports Stadium – Roseau, Dominica.

Team Spice was also awarded the title of “THE MOST DISCIPLINED TEAM”, 3rd place in the team shooting competition, and the most accurate shooting team. Team Grenada’s Robyn Adams was named MOST VALUABLE PLAYER for team Grenada and the entire tournament.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture extended greetings to Team Grenada and stated, “Well done, Team Grenada. We thank you for your representation in Dominica and extend hearty congratulations on this achievement.”

The under-16 girls of Grenada placed second (2nd) in the Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball and three (3) of their girls are in the top sixteen (16) best players of the tournament

Awards:

  • Most accurate shooting country
  • Special player of the tournament
  • Most discipline team

Further, the third place finished for Dominica In Regional Under 16 Netball as in Dominica’s fifth and final encounter in the Jean Pierre Caribbean Youth Netball Tournament, Dominica won over the Cayman Islands with scores 28-10. 

Quarter scores were as follows: 

7-2, 14-3, 21-7, 28-10

Shooting for Dominica was as follows: 

  • Kenya John 22/18
  • Le-Myah Forde 16/10
  • Shooting for the Cayman Islands 
  • Zanaiyah William 9/5
  • Jade Allen 10/4
  • Jenesis Mitchel contributed 1

Three Dominican players were selected among the top 16 players of the tournament. The players are as follows: 

  • Kenya John 
  • Le-Myah Forde 
  • Nesha Remie

Dominica also won the award for the best team on parade, and the country’s MVP was awarded to Le-Myah Forde. Dominica tied with Grenada on 17 points; however, Grenada had a better goal difference.

Final position:

  • Champion – Barbados 
  • Runner up – Grenada 
  • Second runner-up – Dominica

  • Dominica- 3rd place
  • Trinidad- 4th place
  • Saint Lucia- 5th place
  • Cayman Islands – 6th place
