Bahamas: Bahamas Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis officially opened a satellite Passport Office on Exuma as part of the Government’s strategy to improve passport services everywhere in the country; the inauguration of the Exuma Passport Office demonstrates the Government’s commitment to Exuma’s development, and Family Islands in general, as centers of opportunity plus growth.
“In our 2017 Manifesto, we said we would implement measures to expedite the delivery of passport plus consular services to Bahamians and that special attention would be paid to citizens in the Family Islands and overseas,” said the Prime Minister.
“We were prepared to eliminate and reduce the many expenses associated with Family Island residents making a new passport.”
The Exuma office went live for trial on 27 January 2021 and has so far enrolled 99 applicants.
Fourteen have been completed and returned to Exuma last week, and four more were set to arrive on 12 February.
“This is a wonderful success,” Prime Minister said. “It represents a new day for Exuma, by another government service available in your community.”
Commonwealth of The Bahamas is a country within the Lucayan Archipelago of the West Indies in the Atlantic. It takes up 97% of the Lucayan Archipelago’s land area and is home to 88% of the archipelago’s population. The archipelagic state consists of higher than 700 islands, cays, and islets in the Atlantic Ocean.
It is located north of Cuba and northwest of the island of Hispaniola (split between Haiti and the Dominican Republic), including the Turks and Caicos Islands, southeast of the US state of Florida, & east of the Florida Keys. The capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence.
The Royal Bahamas Defence Force represents The Bahamas’ territory as encompassing 470,000 km2 (180,000 sq mi) of ocean space.
The Bahamas is continuously trying to build the nation better while handling the current pandemic country takes some vital steps.
