Bahama’s MOT updates COVID protocols for vaccinated travellers

The Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas island has updated public health measures and entry COVID protocols for fully vaccinated travellers.

Bahamas: The Ministry of Tourism of the Bahamas island has updated public health measures and entry COVID protocols for fully vaccinated travellers.

The measures are as follows-

• Immediately effective, Bahamian citizens and residents who are fully vaccinated, after receiving their second dose, would be excluded from COVID-19 testing requirements when travelling inter-island from new providence, Abaco, Grand Bahama, Exuma and Eleuthera to any other island.

• Effective from- May 1, 2021, international visitors who would be travelling to The Bahamas from other countries & who are fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period will be excluded from testing requirements for entry and inter-island travel.

Following are the requirements for the vaccinated travellers-

  • Vaccinated travellers would still need to apply for the Bahamas Travel Health Visa. They would be required to upload proof of their vaccination- such as CDC or government-issued vaccine record card, with the application in place of the PCR test requirement. They do not need to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test before entry and submit it to the rapid testing mandates or complete the daily health questionnaire during their stay.
  • The Bahamas Government will only be accepting vaccines by Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Oxford-AstraZeneca.

Following are the requirements for the unvaccinated travellers-

  • Travellers who are not fully vaccinated would be required to follow all – existing entry testing requirements, including applying for Bahamas Travel Health Visa and providing proof of negative PCR test – taken not more than five days before their arrival and completing the daily health questionnaire, as well as conducting their rapid COVID-19 antigen testing, if they are staying in the Bahamas for more than four nights and five days.

The requirements for all the travellers-

  • All travellers and residents would be required to apply for the Bahamas Travel Health Visa and adhere to health and safety protocols of the island- such as – mask-wearing, social distancing and frequent hand washing and others.

Seeing the current situation of COVID-19, the Government of The Bahamas would continue to monitor cases across the islands and loosen or tighten the restrictions as required.
