Bahamas government prohibit social gatherings in North and South Bimini

The Bahamas government has announced restrictions on social gatherings in North and South Bimini amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, a daily curfew has also been announced from 7 pm to 5 am, which came into effect from 1 July 2021. 

Bahamas: The Bahamas government has announced restrictions on social gatherings in North and South Bimini amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, a daily curfew has also been announced from 7 pm to 5 am, which came into effect from 1 July 2021. 

This announcement of the restrictions has made according to the Emergency Powers (Covid 19 Pandemic) (Management and Recovery) (No.2) (Amendment) (No.2) Order, 2021.

Under these new amendment orders, the funeral ceremonies would occur at the graveside with not more than ten people (the officiants and funeral service workers are not included in these ten people). It is ordered that the funeral services must be conducted as per the COVID-19 protocols and measures that are issued by the Bahamas Christian Council and approved by the Ministry of Health. 

Other than this, the following amendments have also been announced – 

  • Marriages are allowed in a church, a facility or outdoors provided that the no. of attendees is restricted to 10, including the officiant, and that all attendees must wear masks.
  • Marriage receptions are prohibited.
  • The Church worships are permitted to held daily between 6 am to 6 pm, but the people are asked to obey the social distancing and other health COVID-19 protocols provided by the Bahamas Christian Council and approved by the Ministry of Health. 
  • All the bars are not permitted to open. 
  • Not more than 5 people (in groups) are allowed on beaches and parks.
  • The Hotel and cruise ship guests are expected to remain on the premises of the Hotel or cruise ship during the curfew time. 

During the curfew timings, the cruise ships and hotels visitors can travel between the Hotel and marina to the area the marina is part of the Hotel’s premises. 

To carry out the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the areas and assisting the local health team, the Health Ministry of the Bahamas government has also stationed in Bimini from 1 July 2021. 

With this, the Bahamas’ government has once again reminded the country’s citizens to follow the novel coronavirus health protocols strictly, such as wearing masks properly, maintaining a social distance of 6 feet, washing hands frequently, and avoiding large crowds.
