St Kitts and Nevis: All schools in St Kitts and Nevis will remain close today (Tuesday, October 3, 2023) dur to the inclement weather conditions. The Education Ministry asked the parents to remain cautious about their children.
The Ministry of Education of Nevis said that in light of the inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Philippe, the school will remain close on October 3, 2023. It further added, ”We encourage all staff and students to remain indoors. The safety of all parties is our priority.”
The date of the reopening of all schools of St Kitts will be unveiled by the Education Ministry with the normality in the weather situation.
However, the Education Ministry of Nevis said that they should resume regular operations on October 4, 2023 unless otherwise communicated.
As per the weather forecast, the passage of Tropical Storm Philippe has created a rough situation for the Caribbean region. The Met service also issued the Tropical Storm Watch for St Kitts and Nevis due to the high chances of the heavy to very heavy thunderstorm and rainfall.
Some of the moisture and instability from Philippe will generate cloudy spells and some showery conditions over the weekend. Swell generated from Philippe will also affect the eastern coastline throughout the weekend.
The Met Service also predicted that Tropical Storm Philippe will make impact on the region through Wednesday. It also has the potential to turn to Hurricane while bringing the situation of the flash flooding, landfall and gusty winds.
Weather forecast for St Kitts and Nevis
St Kitts and Nevis experienced showery periods on Monday. Numerous showers and thunderstorms have also created some disturbance in the country. The speed of the wind stood at 7- 14 mph, while seas were remained rough.
Besides this, Tuesday, the chances of the showers are high for St Kitts and Nevis. The situation will remain cloudy and passage of Philippe can cause heavy thunderstorms. The speed of the win will remain 16 to 25 mph, while the seas will face rough situation.
For Wednesday, the weather will remain mostly cloudy. The partial cloudy chances have also been predicted for St Kitts and Nevis. The chance of the showers is very high with the speed of the wind 16 to 25 mph. The seas will remain moderate to locally roughly.
Further, the met services announced that the centre of Philippe will keep moving WNW then NW. It will slowly drag thunderstorms with severe conditions of the weather.
