The Hindu temple situated at Albert Park in Melbourne was vandalized with anti-India graffiti on Monday, January 23, 2023. It was the third temple for facing such attacks as reports were also there that Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs was destroyed earlier.

Australia: The Hindu temple situated at Albert Park in Melbourne was vandalized with anti-India graffiti on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Australia. It was the third temple for facing such attacks as reports were also there that Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs was destroyed earlier.

According to the reports, the walls were founded vandalized with anti-India graffiti by the management of Melbourne’s International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple which is also known as the Hare Krishna Temple.

The Director of Communication for ISKCON temple stated that they were disappointed and shocked by the disregard for the place of worship. He informed that they have filed a police complaint against the offenders.

Shivesh Pandey, an IT consultant and devotee of Iskcon temple asserted that various people have been running a “hate-filled” agenda against the Hindu community and the Victoria Police have failed to take any action to resolve the issue and to take strict action against the offenders.

According to the reports, the incident of vandalization of the ISKCON temple was held a day after the Victorian multifaith leaders held an emergency meeting with Victorian Multicultural Commission. After issuing a statement, the commission condemned the vandalism of Hindu Temples in Mill Park and Carrum Downs.

This was not the first incident as another incident came to notice on January 16 as the Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Australia’s Carrum Down was vandalized. The incident happened after temple devotees came for pilgrimage due to the three-day long “Thai Pongal” festival. The festival was celebrated by the Tamil community residing in Australia.

Earlier, on January 12, 2023, some anti-Indian elements vandalized the Swaminarayan Temple in the Mill Park area of Melbourne. The resident nearby the park who witnessed the incident stated that when he reached the temple, he witnessed that the walls of the temple were coloured with graffiti of Khalistan hatred towards Hindus.

He further mentioned that he was angry and outraged with the actions against the Hindu community by Khalistan supporters.
