Grenada: Grenada Cultural Foundation invited the application for the Short Story Writing Competition for the students. The deadline for the competition has been extended to November 15, 2023.

The Competition will be held under the “Aunty Tek Spiceword Festival 2023”, which is a colourful event showcasing the culture of Grenada. The theme of the competition is “Telling or story in our language. 50 years and counting.”

Further, the details of the competition have also been announced. According to the guidelines, the students of the primary schools will have to write a Short Story in 250 words. At the same time, the students of the secondary schools will have to submit their stories in 500 words. The word limit for the tertiary level student will be 800 words.

The details of the prizes have also been announced, which are:

First Place:

  • The primary school student will be able to win a $250 Gift Voucher + Book.
  • The secondary school student will be able to win a $300 Gift Voucher + Book.
  • The student of the Tertiary Level will be able to win a $500 Gift Voucher + Book.

Second Place:

  • For Primary School, the prize will be a $150 Gift Voucher + Book.
  • For Secondary School, the prize will be a $250 Gift Voucher + Book.
  • For Tertiary School, the prize will be a $300 Gift Voucher + Book.

Third Place:

  • $100 Gift Voucher + Book will be given to Primary School Student
  • $150 Gift Voucher + Book will be presented to Secondary School Student
  • $200 Gift Voucher + Book will be given to Tertiary School Students.

Earlier, the Grenada Cultural Foundation has hosed Auty Tek Spiceword Festival in Carriacou from October 17 to October 21, 2023.

With the staging of different events, the festival displayed a blend of cultural activities with the unique craft of the people of Grenada.

On October 17 and 18, 2023- The events were:

  • School Readings
  • Reading Sessions at Primary and Secondary Schools

On October 20, 2023:

  • Workshop
  • Publishing the works of emerging authors at Cassada Bay Resort from 10 a.m. to 3 pm.

On October 20, 2023:

  • Bon-Fire
  • Story Telling
  • Ring Games
  • Drumming
  • Serving Traditional Foods and More
  • Paradise Beach from 6 pm to 9 pm.
