Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party launched Gail Christian as their candidate from Rural West for the January 18 general elections on January 5, 2023. Prime Minister and Leader of Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party Gaston Browne stated that the Rural West played a massive role in his career. 

He was speaking at the launch of Gail Christian and outlined the significance of women’s empowerment. He added that gender equality within the party added that the women representatives are not coming to the office to be a mere token, but they play a fundamental role in the leadership of the country. He added that the ABLP is committed to the empowerment of women and all Antiguans and Barbudans in general.

He said that the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party makes sure that women, children, youth, elderly, as well as other vulnerable groups of society, are acknowledged.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that no one can dought the commitment of the lady to the revival of Rural West as she was born in this community and grew up in this community. She still lives in the community, and today she will present developmental plans for this constituency. PM Browne guaranteed the people of Rural West that they will be extremely impressed, and she will get the full support of his administration, and whatever she will today be promised will surely be delivered.

He added, “I want to say that the people of Rural West will have my full commitment and support. He extended gratitude to Benjamin for his contribution and for backing the lady. He added that when it comes to labour, Rural West will always have two representatives.” 

He outlined that the Labour Party stressed women’s empowerment and added Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party is totally managed by women all around. PM Browne then highlighted the representation of Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean Community of CARICOM. He stated that the ABLP has always worked to earn support from all the CARICOM members, and the twin-island country of Antigua and Barbuda is known to have the most number of CARICOM representatives.

He also slammed the opposition and asked the people to make the right choice.
