Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne extended warm wishes on the occasion of Christmas with a heartfelt message. While dropping a video message for the people, he stated that Christmas is a time for remembering the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He stated, “It is also a time to recall our responsibility to each other. We are all one people, one nation with a common destiny; we must embrace each other in boundless care, compassion and love.”
Shedding light upon the significance of Christmas, PM Browne asserted that it’s a time for a good share of what made all troubles, the country is peaceful, and the progress is steady. It is a time for giving thanks that together the country has faced trials and tests, and they have overcome them stronger than ever.
He asserted that Christmas is a time for giving gifts with full hearts and generous spirits to loved ones, family, and persons on the eve.
While extending gratitude to people for showing their faith in him as the prime minister, he said, “My greatest gift for this year is the privilege to serve as your prime minister. Many thanks to each of you for entrusting me with this awesome responsibility, which I will honour by a continued commitment to empowering you.”
Showering love on the people, PM Browne stated that on behalf of his wife Maria, his children and himself, he wished his people a Merry Christmas and assured them the future together in greater prosperity and progress. God Bless you.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has been serving the people of Antigua and Barbuda since 2014. He has made every possible effort to uplift the country and started various initiatives to mark the development of its people.
Earlier, PM Gaston Browne- led Administration announced to intend to establish a National Retirement age to move in lockstep with Social Security eligibility. Moreover, the government also declared to hire additional young lawyers as draftsmen so that many new laws and amendments to the legislation were completed.
The Ministry of legal affairs of Antigua and Barbuda assured the people of Antigua and Barbuda that there will be even more work done in 2023 as the Ministry advances the legislative framework.
Along with that, in the field of new jobs and employment, the government has worked to uplift the Antigua and Barbuda Institute of Continuing Education, where young people are taught many skills, will also approach many employers so that the students will be ensured an income, while they acquire these skills.
Moreover, the country has also witnessed Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Aquatic Center Sir Novelle Richards Academy under the Administration of Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

The Aquatic Center, first of its kind in Antigua and Barbuda will have the capacity to host local, regional and international competitions.
Under the Administration of PM Browne, West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) has been able to source LPG to meet the demands of hotels and households until the seas are sufficiently calm, allowing the re-filler vessels to dock. For almost three weeks rough seas and groundswell have prevented LNG and LPG re-filler vessels from re-supplying the WIOC storage tanks.
The tourism sector has also witnessed a significant upliftment as the government of Antigua and Barbuda opened Cargo Port at the Deep Water Harbour on December 8, 2022. The Port was first built and dredged in 1968 by the then ABLP Administration and has lasted 50 years.
The redevelopment and expansion of the Port will now allow it to engage in transhipment activities and centralized shipping services, making it the largest Cargo Port in the OECS.
The people of Antigua and Barbuda also witnessed the opening of 5th Berth during the Ministry’s Tourism Week of celebrations. The 5th Berth was built primarily to accommodate the Oasis class ships, the largest cruise vessels in the world, capable of carrying over 5,000 passengers and 2,500 crew, requiring a draught of 38 feet. During the opening ceremony, the audience witnessed the docking of five (5) cruise vessels at the Antigua Cruise Port.
