Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced significant future projects which will be taken place in Antigua and Barbuda. He stated that there will be a significant investment for Antiguans and Barbudans. 

PM Gaston Browne added, “Record cruise ships. Hotels full. New port. Growing economy. And, now, big vision for the future.” 

The future projects are as follows: 

  • Antigua Cruise Port: The project is worth $270 million. The work on the project started in the first quarter of 2023. 
  • Performing Arts Centre: Prime Minister Gaston Browne also shared the update on the performing arts centre and stated that it is one of the significant projects for the overall development of the people of Antigua and Barbuda. It will provide great platform to people who are keenly interested in performing arts and love to do creative things. The reconstruction of the project begins in 2023. 
  • UWI Five Island Campus: The project is subject to start in 2023. Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that $216 million has already been provided by Saudi Arabia. 
  • The Harrison Centre: Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that the construction of the Harrison Centre has already started. 
  • Royal Caribbean International Beach Club: The Beach Club is worth $270 million and the project will be constructed in 2023. The International Beach Club in Antigua and Barbuda will provide a significant boost to the tourism sector. 

Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, have worked day and night for the development of the country. During the times of Hurricanes, natural calamities and the COVID pandemic, Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his administration worked efficiently to rebuild the economy. They implemented various developmental policies, such as broke ground on Phase 1 of the Golden Grove School Expansion Project. 

The initial phase of the project will see the construction of a new classroom wing of the school with a student capacity of 90 students. Phase 2 will see the second floor of the building completed with an additional three classrooms, and Phase 3 will see a renovation of the existing school compound.

Besides this, the cruise sector witnessed significant development with the opening of 5th Berth. The 5th Berth was built primarily to accommodate the Oasis class ships, the largest cruise vessels in the world, capable of carrying over 5,000 passengers and 2,500 crew, requiring a draught of 38 feet. During the opening ceremony, the audience witnessed the docking of five (5) cruise vessels at the Antigua Cruise Port.
