Miss Europe Continental 2019 - Sara Taheri
Sara Taheri shared the story of the day she was crowned as the 2019 Miss Europe Continental winner. In an interview with Associates Times, she said that she was extremely nervous, and all she could think of was a glass of cold water as the heat of the lights made the temperature really hot and her lips dry.
She was crowned Miss Europe Continental on 26 November 2019 in Naples, Italy.
Sharing her story, Taheri stated that as she was standing on the stage, the music was loud and still, she could hear her own heartbeat.
“It made me wonder if everybody else could hear my beating heart, it was beating so fast that my chest was moving and I could almost see it from over my dress; I thought maybe others could see it too, but no, my dress was too shinny and so well designed with beautiful crystals, it was too distancing for other people to notice my heart that was almost jumping out my chest.”
Furthermore, Sara says that every time she sees a bottle of cold water, it reminds her of the exact moment when all she could think of was water during her crowning ceremony.
“The sun was kissing my naked arms, making my cheeks blush. I could feel the smell of newly blossomed flowers of spring with every breath and it made me feel I had to stop to buy a water bottle, it was so hot and my lips were so dry. I took a sip of water and remembered the last time I was so desperate for just a sip of cold water, very clearly it was 26, 2019 in Italy.”
She said when her name was announced, a lot of people came to get their photos clicked and many people interviewed her in between.
“All I could drink was tears of joy at the moment,” said Taheri while describing the dryness on her lips due to lack of water.
She stated that during that time, all she could think of was a sip of cold water.
“My lips were so dry and hot under the lights, all the cameras focused on me. A big smile made it look normal, I told myself that I was going to faint from all the dehydration, just like another contestant who fainted and could not make it to the finals,” said Taheri.
She said even though it was her dream to be on the stage, the moment came with its own challenges and will remain as her core memories forever.
The Miss Europe Continental stated that the moment she was standing on the stage, she could not even feel her feet because of the numbness as a result of prolonged standing.
While sharing the exact moment when she was declared the winner, Taheri said,“ They screamed my name and I was like oh it is my name, all the glitters, flowers were pouring on my head and everybody was clapping for me saying the New Miss Europe Continental is Sara Taheri.”
She said the crown matched her diamond and sapphire necklace very well as it was designed especially for her.
“The time stopped for a second, the crown was on my head, and yes, it was real.”
Taheri, who is from France, said that she always dreamt of the glamour world and is happy that her journey in the pageant world helped her realise that dreams can be a reality if you work for them.
“It feels like I am living my biggest dream of life, walking the stage has been my dream since I was a little girl, I would always watch beauty contestants and would always imagine myself being one too, I never stopped believing that it can actually be possible,” said Sara Taheri.
She said when a person handed over a glass of water, she felt like she was reborn again.
“So, I took a sip of water, oh the pleasure of drinking that water is literally beyond words, it felt like as if I was reborn,” she thought an angle gave the glass, but she later realized it was her mother and the water tasted beyond word.
She said when her name was announced, a lot of people came to get their photos clicked and many people interviewed her in between.
“All I could drink was tears of joy at the moment,” said Taheri while describing the dryness on her lips due to lack of water.
Furthermore, Sara stated that she has always been so wild and savage to follow her dreams and is happy to finally become what she always wanted to be.
In her poetic narrative, Sara Taheri explains her experience within Iran when she tasted distinctive rainwater, “the taste of the rain, this is something special and wild about it. It gives me a strangely satisfying feeling. Rain always reminds me of many memories, including the last time it rained and I was in Iran. The rain there tasted so different, it tasted like fear and happiness it tasted like lost dreams and forgotten dreams that could never come true so they had to be buried under the sad trees.”
