PM Rowley receives second jab of COVID vaccine

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has received a second jab of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine at the Scarborough Health Centre on Friday, 6 August 2021. 

Trinidad and Tobago: The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has received a second jab of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine at the Scarborough Health Centre on Friday, 6 August 2021. 

While taking his dose, he has also encouraged the citizens to take their dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

In addition, the Health Ministry of Trinidad and Tobago has shared the COVID-19 update report on 6 August 2021. 

Trinidad and Tobago Caribbean island have reported 258 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant on 6 August 2021.

As per the report, there are 5,910 total active cases in the nation. In comparison, a total of 32,637 individuals have been recovered from the contagious COVID-19 virus. 

While around 313 people are still in the hospital, the Health Ministry further informed in the report that a total of 1,123 patients have died on the Caribbean island as of 6 August 2021. 

According to a total of 82 patients in the step-down facilities, around 168 individuals are in the state-quarantine facilities. A total of 5,257 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as per the data shared in the health ministry’s report of T&T. 

So far, as of 6 August 2021, in Trinidad and Tobago, a total of 411,887 individuals have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas, in total, 211,120 individuals have received their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine and now are fully vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. 

If we look at the statistics of COVID-19 testing, a total of 277,082 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which 118,109 COVID-19 tests were conducted at private healthcare facilities. In contrast, 158,973 people were tested at the public healthcare facilities for the novel coronavirus. 

In their report, the Health Ministry further informed that the samples of these new 258 COVID-19 positive cases were taken between 2 August to 5 August 2021. 

As per the report, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Caribbean island has reported a total of 39,835 cases of the deadly virus.
