271 new COVID-19 cases recorded in T&T

According to the Trinidad and Tobago COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Update report the island has reported 271 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant on 31 May 2021, taking the total number of the active coronavirus cases in the country to 9,487.

According to the data compiled at 4 pm on 31 May 2021, a total of 13,927 patients have been recovered from the deadly virus, and a total of 449 patients are in the hospital.

The report further states that there are a total of 180 patients in step-down facilities whereas a total of 126 patients are under state quarantine facilities.

Around 8,587 individuals have isolated themselves at their homes. So far, a total of 181,698 people have been tested for the COVID-19 virus in Trinidad and Tobago, out of which around 80,562 people were tested at private facilities and the remaining were tested at public facilities.

According to the report, as of 4 pm of 31 May 2021, a total of 94,671 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and a total of 1,179 people have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and are fully vaccinated now.

Various neighbouring nations and associations have provided assistance of coronavirus vaccines to the island. Recently, the island has received a donation of around 10,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from Grenada.

The government of Trinidad and Tobago has announced new COVID-19 health guidelines, which states that only the essential workers would be permitted to on the streets, and the individuals need to have a curfew pass or their working id’s while they are out of the house.

The Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago – Faris Al Ravi, recently announced that all the vaccination appointments that were scheduled on Monday 31 May and 3 June would be rescheduled because of the public holidays that are of Indian Arrival Day and Corpus Christi.
