St Lucia records 13 new COVID cases while 30 individuals recovered from the virus

On May 3, St Lucia recorded 13 new COVID-19 cases. The Ezra Long Laboratory confirmed the COVID cases and provided information to the Ministry of Health and Wellness of St Lucia.

St Lucia: On May 3, St Lucia recorded 13 new COVID-19 cases. The Ezra Long Laboratory confirmed the COVID cases and provided information to the Ministry of Health and Wellness of St Lucia.

These positive COVID-19 virus cases came from the batch of 165 samples taken on April 29 and April 30, 2021. These samples were further processed on May 2, 2021.

These people were seen at various community respiratory clinics, where they were tested for the COVID-19 virus. while awaiting receipt of their COVID-19 test results, abiding by the national COVID-19 testing protocols

, these individuals were placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners. Further arrangements of places have been made to isolate these newly diagnosed individuals.

Ministry of Health and Wellness also confirmed the recovery of 30 individuals, diagnosed with COVID-19 mutant taking the total number of active cases in St Lucia till date to 96. The new cases take the total number of patients diagnosed in the country till date to 4,573.

As of Friday, April 30, 2021, a total of 24,426 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 3, 853 people have received their second dose.

On May 4, 2021, the health team would be administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the – Phillip Marcellin Grounds, La Ressource Dennery Parish Hall, Jacmel Wellness Centre, Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds and the Ciceron Wellness Centre.

This COVID-19 vaccination drive will cater to the general population for the first dose of the vaccine and those receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

The Ministry of Health warns everyone of the significance of adopting behaviours to reduce danger of the COVID-19 virus. Officials further stated, “Let us all continue practising the infection prevention and control guidelines, which includes – frequent hand washing or use of hand sanitiser, wearing of a face mask in public places covering, nose and chin, maintaining a distance from others and using a bleach solution to sanitize handled objects and frequently touched surfaces.”

Officials further asserted, “If you are experiencing flu like symptoms, keep away from others and seek immediate medical care at your closest community respiratory clinic. The Ministry of Health and Wellness would continue to provide updates to the public as new information becomes available.”
