Guyana: PPP- People’s Progressive Party/Civic sends a message on the occasion of Labour Day,2021.
PPP officials stated, “Traditionally, Labour Day as it’s referred to, allows for our country’s workers to unite in solidarity to celebrate their priceless participation to the national development and to use this day to voice challenges that are facing them, and as well as gather collectively to address solutions to the same.”
“Lamentably, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, those daily marches and rallies would be absent this year. This is yet another example of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have on lives worldwide.”
Though through technology- social media platforms, mechanisms would allow the leaders of Trade Unions to speak to workers on related issues and for their voices to be heard.
PPP further stated, “Our workers are our nation’s most valuable asset, and as another Labour Day is here, People’s Progressive Party- (PPP) takes this occasion to extend best wishes to all of them.
“Our Party is aware of how workers have been affected by the Best wishes to them on their day,”- PPP/C. and continue to execute measures, including the COVID-cash grant, to lessen these impacts.”
“Nine months ago, the PPP/C Government continued their work assiduously to make sure that our workers are a priority and that their lives and conditions continue to improve. This identification is apparent by the emphasis and value placed on their well-being by the immediate re-establishment of Ministry of Labour, taking office in August 2020,”- PPP/C.
strongly believes that tools to engage and represent our workers must not be diluted, and they should be able to reach related services in a structured and holistic manner as required through a Ministry.
Adding to this, the party further stated that “While our Party is conscious that there is more to be done, it continues to advance a multifaceted approach to ensure the advancement of our workers. Within this current tenure of the government, burdensome fees and taxes were removed, and the cash grant for education was restored.”
“Till date, thousands of jobs have been created and restored to provide our workers with a glorious opportunity to give to their families. Furthermore, access to thousands of scholarships to assist in capacity building and the implementation of various policies and programmes and to improve the social and physical infrastructure is just part of the PPP/C Government’s drive to better the lives of our nation’s workers.”
Concluding the statement PPP/C party cited, “The contributions of our workers have been the bedrock of the exertions for betterment for all and the development of our country could not have been realized without them.”
