The State Department in a statement further asserted that “The Foreign ministers from Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Haiti, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago participated in the meet, along with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

US Secretary – Antony J. Blinken further focused on the strong association between the US and the Caribbean Region, intends to manage the COVID-19 pandemic virus furthermore to promote a regional economic recovery, cooperation on increasing climate resilience, and continued collaborations on strengthening security, democratic values and human rights.

The meeting was conducted after US President Joe Biden invited the Caribbean prime ministers to his ‘Leaders Summit on Climate’ that took place virtually at the White House on Thursday and Friday.

White House officials in a statement said “Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne and his Jamaican corresponding- Andrew Holness, are invited to the summit among
the other 40 leaders of the world.

The White House asserted that ” US President Biden took action on the first day of his office to return the ‘US to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.’

After few days, on 27 January, US president Biden announced that he would soon convene a leaders summit to galvanize efforts by the major economies to tackle the climate crisis.

Following the statements The White House further cited that the “Leaders Summit on Climate” would highlight the urgency and the economic benefits of a stronger climate action.

By the time of- summit, the White House said the United States will announce an ambitious 2030 emissions target as its new “Nationally Determined Contribution” under their Paris Agreement.

In the invitation, Joe Biden urged all the leaders to use the summit as an opportunity to sketch how their nations also will contribute to stronger climate ambition.
