PM Roosevelt Skerrit announces new health centers in Clifton & Roseau

Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit announced that Clifton & Roseau would soon get a new Health Centers accepting people's longstanding demand.

Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit announced that Clifton & Roseau would soon get a new Health Centers accepting people’s longstanding demand.

He attended the inaugural ceremony of the Opening of Portsmouth Health & Wellness Centre on Monday March 1, 2021.

“These health centers are part of the government strategy to continue to improve the health care services in Dominica,” PM noted.

The Health Center of Portsmouth was dedicated to the name of the nurse Olive Douglas, who served as frontline worker to provide necessary healthcare services to the people of Dominica. 

Addressing to the Opening ceremony of Portsmouth Health & Wellness Centre, Prime Minister said that though Olive Douglas is not born in our Dominica, she accepts this land & performed her duty of being a citizen.

Acknowledging her work, Skerrit said that nurse job requires lots of dedication, commitments & a different level of energy; fortunately, all these capabilities are in her.

He added, “We are very proud of her achievements & are very grateful for her contributions, I as on behalf of a citizen of Dominica & myself thank you for your decades contribution to out nation.”  

Prime Minister also noted in his speech that “criticizing something about society is very easy, but to go on the ground and serve the people is so hard.” 

Talking about the development of Dominica in the last 20 years, he said that we were unknown about the ICU before 2005. After that, day by day, we steeped the stairs of success in the health sector, “we built user-friendly health centers.”

PM, “We do not only have health centers but its health & wellness centers.”

He emphasized that it will not only take care of the sickness, it will also teach us about how we can take care of selves & prevent ourselves from getting sick.

Dominica is fighting well against the coronavirus .
