Mexico: Mexico started applying COVID-19 vaccines to senior citizens in more than 300 municipalities of the country from Monday.

This vaccination campaign has been started in the country after receiving around 860,000 doses of ‘AstraZeneca.’ More attention is being paid to remote rural communities under this campaign.

Before dawn, many people over the age of 60 were also seen standing in rows to vaccinate. With the help of military planes, helicopters, and trucks, around 23,370 doses were delivered till 4 pm. Vaccination centers could not open in many places in the northern state of Nuevo Leon due to the cold. “Today is a day to celebrate,” said farmer Jose Luis Gonzalez, who lined up to get vaccinated in Milpa Alta. We feel very well and are very grateful to the government.

“Health workers were seen taking personal information about the elderly who were vaccinated during this period, measuring their temperature and blood pressure. After vaccination, they were told to stay at the center for 30 minutes so that any adverse effects could be treated immediately. The government has established about 1000 vaccination centers in schools and health centers, and other places.

President of Mexico Andres Manuel López Obrador said on Monday that vaccines could not reach the remote northwestern areas of Mexico due to inclement weather and snowfall. He said that the armed forces deployed to carry the vaccination items are doing their best to deliver the vaccines there. In mid-December last year in Mexico, a vaccination campaign for Kovid-19 began with 7,26,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. About 20 lakh cases of Kovid-19 have been reported here, and at least 1,74,657 people have died due to the virus. AP Niharika Manishamanisha

India, under the ‘Vaccine Maitri’ initiative, has dispatched shipment to neighboring countries, including Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh, Barbados, and Dominica, Afghanistan. Earlier this week, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit thanked India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing 35,000 ‘Made In India’ coronavirus vaccines to the Caribbean nation.
