On Tuesday, a man died in Israel after falling from a hot air balloon directly on the road. This statement was given by Israeli police.
According to the police, the man was 20 years old. He was the crew member of the ground hot air balloon. When he fell, he was hanging to the basket of the hot air balloon.
Amir Almog, the man’s employer, while talking to the reporters, said, “I don’t know how this happened, but he hung himself on the basket.”
He further added that the man was insisted by the pilot of the hot balloon as the balloon was close to the ground. Then the man himself insisted that he would be able to hang on. The pilot could not land the hot air balloon soon on the land, but the man, while hanging, trembled and fell from the height of about 50 meters (164 feet), Almog said.
Local police official Slava Bonchuk said on Israeli Army Radio that primary research exposed that the hot air balloon seems to have taken off with the man sticking to the basket. He said police were informed about the swinging crewman, who then told the pilot. The man plummeted before the pilot was able to land the hot air balloon.
Israeli media told that the man dropped onto a passing car at a highway below, in a rural area of northern Israel. Media reports said the balloon and its 14 passengers on board landed safely after the incident.
