190 new COVID infections reported in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago island have reported 190 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant on 15 August 2021, as per the report of the Health Ministry.

As per the report, there are 6,178 total active cases in the nation. In comparison, a total of 34,508 individuals have been recovered from the contagious COVID-19 virus. 

In total, around 314 people are still in the hospital. The Health Ministry further informed in the report that a total of 1,180 patients have died on the Caribbean island as of 15 August 2021. According to the report, there are a total of 100 patients in the step-down facilities, around 132 individuals are in the state-quarantine facilities. 

A total of 5,574 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as per the data shared in the health ministry’s report of T&T. 

So far, as of 15 August 2021, in Trinidad and Tobago, a total of 452,509 individuals have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas, in total, 308,205 individuals have welcomed their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine and now are fully vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. 

If we look at the statistics of COVID-19 testing, a total of 288,131 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which 122,247 COVID-19 tests were conducted at private healthcare facilities. In contrast, 165,884 people were tested at the public healthcare facilities for the novel coronavirus. 

In their report, the Health Ministry further informed that the samples of these new 190 COVID-19 positive cases were taken between 11 August to 14 August 2021. 

As per the report, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Caribbean island has reported a total of 41,866 cases of the deadly virus.
