13th International Convention on Environment’s schedule announced by Cuba

The specialist on Tuesday, June 15 2021, in the capital city of Cuba - Havana, stated that promoting cooperation, exchanging of experiences, and sustainable practices is the aim of the 13th International Convention on Environment and Development, which is scheduled for July 5 to 9 in Cuba.

The President of the Environment Agency -Dr Maritza Garcia Garcia, with the organizing committee of the event, asserted in a press briefing that there are around 1,079 scientific papers till date be presented, out of which 274 of them are by the foreign speakers.

Garcia Garcia also included the slogan -Science and Conscience for Environmental Sustainability. With this, she further explained that this format would be arranged in several congresses that are – 13th on – Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, 12th on – the Protected Areas, 10th on – Environmental Management, 8th on – Ecosystems and Biodiversity Management, 7th on – Climate Change and 5th on – Environmental Policy, Justice and Law.

The Congress, for the very first time, on geospatial sciences, space weather, and disaster risk would take place with 127 presentations on the usage of tools and methodologies for the space weather and further would provide proposals for studies, natural and engineering solutions, and also for the local implementation of outcomes.

The specialist further underlined out the past conventions that achieved a participation of more than 10,400 people, and approximately 50 per cent of them were from over sixty nations from the five continents of the world.

In spite of the Covid-19 pandemic on the island, which has forced the event to be arranged virtually in eight different venues, the President of the Environment Agency confirmed the presentation of theme lectures and high-level scientific papers from all the regions of the island.
