106 new COVID-19 cases reported in T&T

According to the Trinidad and Tobago novel coronavirus update report by the Ministry of Health, the island has reported new 106 COVID-19 cases on 20 June 2021, taking the total number of the active cases to 8,274.

As per the reports, a total of 21,608 patients have been recovered from the novel coronavirus deadly mutant, while around 454 patients are in hospitals. 

The health ministry’s report further notes that since the pandemic started, the island has reported a total of 30,619 coronavirus cases. So far, 737 deaths have been reported in T&T due to the deadly virus. 

The coronavirus report by the health ministry informs that around 148 patients are in the step-down facilities, about 209 patients are in the quarantine, and a total of 7,566 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes. 

A total of 217,371 individuals have been tested so far for the novel coronavirus in T&T, out of which around 91,687 people were tested at the private facilities. In contrast, about 125,684 individuals were tested at public facilities. 

The vaccination stats of the island shows that till 20 June 2021 (4 pm), a total of 176,849 individuals have taken their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, and about 39,142 people have received their second dose of their coronavirus vaccine and are fully vaccinated now against the dangerous mutant. 

Recently, during the media conference, the Prime Minister of T&T – Dr Keith Rowley, has informed the citizens that the nation is expecting COVID-19 vaccines from – China (Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines shipment in July), the third shipment of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility (at the end of July). 

Despite this, the island is expecting the first shipment of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines (in August). With this, the PM has also encouraged the citizens to take their dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
